2023 Commonwealth Day Celebration in UB

Activities were organized by the Cooperation Division in collaboration with the UB Commonwealth Club. Under the theme: ‘Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future’, the University Community listened to presentations on Sustainable Peace (by Epah Njukechen), Climate Change (by Njoke Raissa) and the role of governance and development in Forging a Sustainable andPeacefulCommonFuture (by Samuel Bochoum) moderated by Dr. Sunjo Emile, a lecturer in the Faculty of Laws and Political Science. They also listened to the first message of the King who took over from the Queen (after she passed away) as Head of the Commonwealth and the message from the Secretary-General was also read.
The 4-man panelist told the UB community that in order to forge a sustainable and peaceful common future, the youths must show resilience in youth participation, they should follow the right channels and that climate justice is imperative to forge a common future.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor (who was chairing another meeting), Professor Nol Alembong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Teaching congratulated the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and relations with the Business World (Professor Kingsley Ngange Lyonga) and his team for the successful organization of this interesting cultural and intellectual jamboree.
Members of the Commonwealth Club thrilled the audience with a life stage performance on the importance of social justice in Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future.
